There will be 4 plenary conferences; one on each of the following themes :
  • Philosophy of Science & Citizenship by Prof. Isabelle Stengers – Bruxelles Univ. - Belgium
  • Socio-scientific issues by Prof. Laurence Simonneaux - ENFA ; Toulouse - France
  • Analysing classroom activities by Prof. Gregory Kelly – Pennsylvania State Univ. in State College, PA. – US
  • Teacher development by Prof. Jan Van Driel - Leiden University - The Netherlands

(Nota: Due to unexpected circumstances, Prof Sibel Erduran from Bristol University - UK can no more participate to the congress)

SPECIAL CONFERENCE: on Friday 9th - session 11:00am, Mrs Celestine PEA from US National Science Foundation will give a conference upon "The US National Science Foundation’s Directorate for Education and Human Resources, Division of Research on Learning: An informal opportunity to discuss research that supports STEM education in the US and beyond".

A panel discussion will be held on Friday, 9th of September 2011
Its topic is "Trends in science education research. Points of views of policy makers and researchers".
Will participate to the panel discusssion Mr Octavio Quintana Trias of the European Commission, Mr  Georges Haddad, Director of the UNESCO, Mr Pierre LENA of the French Academy of Sciences, and Mr Frédéric Gaffiot of the council of Rhône-Alpes region; near 3 international specialists in science education research: Prof. Graça Carvalho (University of Minho-Braga - Portugal), Prof. Doris Jorde (University of Oslo - Norway) and Prof. Costas Constantinou (University of Cyprus).

preconference for young researchers will take place on Monday morning, September 5th, presided by Dr. Gilbert.
The goal will be to provide advice from an Editor regarding publication in Science Education in particular, and publishing in scholarly research journals more generally.
preconference "Research with teachers"will take place on Monday morning, September 5th, organised by the IFE - the French Institute for Education.
