SUBMISSION GUIDELINES1. MAIN DEADLINESDeadlines to submit a proposal for ESERA 2011: 2. TYPES OF PRESENTATIONEach presentation will be placed in one of the 14 strands. There are 3 types of presentation: 2.1. Single Oral PresentationThis presentation format allows for 20 minutes of individual presentation time followed by a 10 minute discussion moderated by the session chair. Papers will be grouped by strand. 2.2. Symposium Oral PresentationEach Symposium will be organized by a coordinator and will contain 3 to 5 presentations concerning a common topic of interest to the group. However, the presenters in each group must be from at least 2 (and preferably 3 or more) different countries. Each symposium session will be given a 90-minute block of time in the program. The coherence of the symposium will be evaluated, as well as the quality of each of the individual presentations. The proposer (there can be one or two coordinators of whom one is the proposer) is in charge of submitting the titles, an abstract and a synopsis of the symposium, and also providing the name of a discussant. Each single presentation within a symposium will be evaluated. If the coherence of the symposium is not evaluated positively, each accepted symposium oral presentation will be presented as a single oral presentation. 2.3. Interactive Poster PresentationDedicated poster sessions will be programmed during the congress. 3. LIMITS ON THE NUMBER OF PRESENTATIONSEACH PARTICIPANT IN THE ESERA 2011 CONFERENCE CAN APPEAR ON THE PROGRAM AT MOST 5 TIMES. Please note that the paper submission form is optimized for the following browsers: Internet Explorer 7 and above, Firefox 3.0 and above. (The form cannot be submitted under Safari, Opera or Linux). 4.2. Formatting for Submission of ProposalEach proposal should include: a) A title (A maximum of 100 characters - spaces included) The synopsis should be a document in PDF format consisting of a maximum of 3 pages (including references, figures and tables) and with a maximum size of 2 Mb . If your file is too large, you can reduce the resolution of the images. The abstract and the synopsis will be ANONYMOUS: Do not include your name(s) either in the text, or in the references; replace your name(s) in the references by the word “Author”. NB: Every attached Synopsis file will be automatically renamed to ensure confidentiality. 4.3. Processing of the SubmissionsBefore starting submission of your proposal or symposium, please ensure that you have compiled all information to fill in the form(s) and prepared all useful documents to attach. Each proposal will be processed starting from the moment of its submission. This means that a submission will be considered definitive and cannot be modified. In the case of a symposium submission, the coordinator has to submit the symposium presentation. Once the symposium submission has been successfully completed, the principal coordinator (proposer) will receive a symposium ID code. This should be used when submitting the associated symposium oral presentations. This can be done either by the proposer who can continue from the same screen; or the first author of each symposium oral presentation can submit his or her presentation along with the ID code of the symposium, which needs, therefore, to be communicated to all the participants by the proposer. Once you have successfully submitted your proposal, you will see on a final screen the submission ID code along with a summary of your submission. You will also receive an e-mail of confirmation. 4.4. Requirements for First AuthorsThe First author must be the speaker in case of a single oral presentation, for each of the presentations in a symposium and for any interactive poster presentation. The First author will be notified of the acceptance or refusal of the proposal on March 15th 2011. Submitted presentations will be definitively accepted only after registration and payment of the registration fees by the speaker (First author) making the presentation. 5. Proposal ReviewThe synopsis should include the following: Empirical papers: Theoretical papers should include definition of the problem, its place in the literature, outline of the argument put forth and conclusions PROPOSALS RECEIVED AFTER JANUARY 10 2011 WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR INCLUSION IN THE CONFERENCE. In each submitted proposal is indicated a strand. The co-chairs of this indicated strand check that the proposal matches the strand. The reviewers will scale each criterion according to a five-level grading scheme as follows: Reviewers will also give a final appreciation – “A = Excellent or good / B = a median level / C = Bad or not sufficient” – and justify their recommendation. Strand co-chairs, on the basis of the reviews, will propose the acceptance or refusal of the proposal. The final decision will be taken by the International Scientific Committee. Moreover, the Scientific Committee has the final decision in the assignment of presentation format, and may place proposed presentations into session types for which they were not submitted. If the proposers do not want a format assigned to them, they will have the opportunity to withdraw their paper. The evaluation grids are available.
